JACKSON – Norris Edney, the former president of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, has been named interim president at Alcorn State University.

Edney will succeed George Ross, who will step down on Feb. 5 to become president of Central Michigan University. Ross took the Alcorn post in January 2008.

The College Board made the announcement Thursday. It has not set out a timeline for the search process for a new president at Alcorn.
