Mullinnix, known as "Mr. Civitan," was instrumental in making the club the largest in the world.
He joined the club in November 1953, and during his lifetime brought in 278 members to the club.
During the club's birthday celebration, the program was turned over to members telling stories about their friend and fellow civitan. They told of travels with Mullinnix, his initiations of new members and how he could always tell a story and get a laugh every time, regardless of the number of times someone had heard the story.
One member told of Mullinnix during his days of public speaking and how they traveled to clubs, weddings and a variety of events for him to speak.
The member said Mullinnix was speaking to a nursing home and when he was done, he said "there wasn't a dry seat in the house."
