STARKVILLE – Mississippi State center Wendell Lewis will find out today how badly his knee is injured.

The school said Thursday that the 6-foot-9 senior injured the patella in his right knee during Wednesday’s practice. An MRI was done, and the results are expected back today.

MSU, which is 3-5 heading into Saturday’s game at Loyola-Chicago, has been an injury-ravaged team this year. It’s already down to seven scholarship players, having lost a pair of guards before the season to knee injuries. Guard Jalen Steele (broken wrist) is expected to return in a few weeks.

Lewis is averaging 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, and he’s scored 36 points over his last two games.
