Dan Mullen’s old boss has poached one of his top recruits.

Corey Smith, a four-star wide receiver from East Mississippi Community College, withdrew his verbal commitment to Mississippi State on

Tuesday and committed to Ohio State. It’s not entirely surprising, as Smith hails from Akron, Ohio.

The Buckeyes went 12-0 last season under Urban Meyer, under whom MSU’s Mullen coached for eight years at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.

Smith is the second prospect to de-commit from MSU this week.

South Panola offensive lineman Deon Mix did so on Sunday but has yet to choose a school.
