LAS VEGAS – Behind a final-round 3-under-par 69, Ally McDonald claimed a share of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown title on Tuesday at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club.

It’s her first collegiate title.

McDonald, a sophomore from Fulton, recorded a three-day total of 2-under 214 (71-74-69) – the fourth-lowest tourney card in MSU history –

to share the final lead with Elizabeth Tong of Indiana.

MSU’s Rica Tse finished ninth at 6-over 222 as the Bulldogs finished seventh as a team.

“It was not only a great tournament for me but also for the team,” McDonald said. “We all ended the semester with something positive, and I’m excited I could end it with my first win.”

After bogeying her third hole of the day on Tuesday, McDonald slid to third on the leaderboard.

She regrouped to post eagle-par-birdie on holes No. 13-15 and overtake the top spot. Tong posted back-to-back birdies on No. 13 and 14 to gain a share of the lead.
