Evidence of dog-fighting ring found in Monroe County

ABERDEEN - The Monroe County Sheriff's Department recently came across several cages, dog-fighting equipment, pit bulls and pits located in the woods off South Matubba Street and Calvery Lane, believed to be part of a dog fighting ring operating within the area, according to Tanya Powell, the spokesperson for the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

No arrests have been made although the Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office asks resident to call if they suspect dog-fighting activities in their area. The number is 369-2468.
