Okolona heads to General Election

OKOLONA - The City of Okolona will participate in the General Election on June 2 with several seats still in contention.

In the Democratic run-off, incumbent Mary Gates was defeated by one vote by challenger Robert "Matt" Hughes. Hughes does not face an opponent in the General Election.

Louise Floyd Cole defeated incumbent, Sherman Carouthers, in the Democratic primary and will face Republican George P. Jenkins, and Independent Hall Spratt on June 2.

In Ward 3, incumbent Eldridge Lowe (D) will face William T. Warren (I). Ward 6 will see incumbent Anthony Floyd (D) face off with Donald Ray Jacobs (I).
