ATLANTA – The Ole Miss women's team shut out Georgia Tech 4-0 Saturday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta to earn its first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance since 1999.

The Rebels, ranked No. 17 nationally, earned their seventh Sweet 16 appearance overall and improved to 17-5. They will face Florida in the third round Thursday at 8 a.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

“It's great to be in the Sweet 16. This was one of our goals before the season as a team, and now we can check that off,” head coach Mark Beyers said. “We are looking forward to facing Florida again. They beat us pretty good the first time, and hopefully we can give them a better match this time.”

Rebels men: The Ole Miss men's tennis team fell to 10th-ranked Texas A&M Saturday 4-2 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas in the second round of the NCAA Championships.

The Aggies advance to the Sweet Sixteen, while the 18th-ranked Rebels end their season at 19-8.

“Congratulations to Texas A&M. They have a great program. We fought hard; it was a great college match. We came up short,” head coach Billy Chadwick said.

Earlier in the day the Rebels survived a six hour weather delay to defeat TCU 4-1 in the first round to advance to play the Aggies.
