A new state law requires all school districts to begin teaching sexual education this fall. Districts were able to choose from several curriculum made available by the state Department of Education.
Parkgate has been teaching the courses to Tupelo students for several years. Parents must agree to have their children participate in the class, which will be available to Lee County seventh-graders. A teacher or school nurse will be present during the course.
