According to a news release, 27-year-old First Lt. William Donnelly IV, of Picayune was killed "while conducting dismounted combat operations against enemy forces in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Thursday on."
Donnelly was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
No other details about his death were provided
