Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal - Police say pregnant woman shot in Edwards kills unborn child

EDWARDS — Police say an argument over $10 led to a weekend shooting that injured a pregnant woman and killed her unborn child.

Authorities say a 26-year-old Edwards man is behind bars and charged with aggravated assault and culpable negligence in the Friday night shooting.

Police say the suspect was arguing with his cousin over $10 when he fired a shotgun into the passenger door of a car, hitting and injuring 26-year-old Charmaine Maxey.

WLBT-TV said Maxey was taken to an area hospital where she is listed in serious condition.
