The SBA says in a news release that Kennedy will be presented with the agency's Phoenix Award.
The town was devastated by a tornado on April 27, 2011. Sixteen people were killed and 153 homes, four churches, the Town Hall, the police headquarters and 14 of the 15 businesses in the one-square-mile were destroyed.
The Phoenix Awards will be presented on May 21 during the SBA's National Small Business Week celebration in Washington, D.C.
