NEW YORK — Florida State, ranked No. 1 at times this season, is among five Atlantic Coast Conference schools selected as host sites for the NCAA Division I baseball tournament.

The others are Miami, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Virginia. The ACC also had a tournament-high five hosts last year.

Sixteen schools were chosen Sunday to host games in the 64-team tournament, which starts Friday.

The Pac-12 is second with four schools — Arizona, Oregon, Stanford and UCLA. The Southeastern Conference has three, with Florida, LSU and two-time defending College World Series champion South Carolina.

Also selected as hosts are: Baylor, Purdue, Rice and Texas A&M. The regional hosted by Purdue will be played at U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Ind., because of stadium construction.
