"Hands to Man, Heart to God" 2012 Gospel Fest will feature singer Kay Bain, the Baptist Student Union Gospel Choir of Rust College, the Itawamba Community College Choir, the Master's Quartet and the Tupelo Unity Choir.
It takes place at 5 p.m. on Oct. 7 at the Tupelo Civic Auditorium, located at Tupelo Middle School, and costs $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 11-17. Younger children get in free.
"This is our second year," said Susan Gilbert, Salvation Army's director of social services. "It started last year and it went over so well, we decided to do it again."
The agency needs about $650,000 to expand its Carnation Street homeless shelter, which stays occupied year-round and often exceeds its recommended capacity.
"We need more beds for the men and the women, and we need a family dorm," said Salvation Army's Maj. Sue Dorman.
Concert-goers can purchase tickets at the door or in advance at the Salvation Army or at the Cotton Bolt.
