NEW ORLEANS — A suspect in the death of a French Quarter stripper whose body parts washed ashore in Mississippi last week has been ordered to be transferred to North Carolina, where he faces charges in an unrelated case.

It wasn't immediately clear Friday whether authorities in Mississippi or Louisiana will attempt to delay the transfer of 39-year-old Terry Christopher Speaks.

Mississippi investigators have identified Speaks and 28-year-old Margaret Sanchez as suspects in the death of 22-year-old Jaren Lockhart, a Bourbon Street strip club dancer. Neither has been charged in the case.

Speaks appeared before a federal magistrate in New Orleans on Friday following his arrest this week on a North Carolina warrant accusing him of failing to register as a sex offender.
