TUPELO – Tupelo’s school board extended Superintendent Gearl Loden’s contract by one year during its regular meeting on Tuesday.

The contract will now last through June 30, 2017. Its $182,000 salary will remain the same.

The board extended Loden’s contract after meeting in closed session to perform its required annual evaluation of its superintendent. Loden was hired by the district last February and given a four-year contract that began on July 1, 2012. He came to Tupelo after leading Amory schools.
