Tupelo police make arrest in armed robbery

TUPELO - Police arrested a 19-year-old North Carolina man Tuesday afternoon and charged him with the armed robbery of a business on West Main Street.

Terrence M. White was charged with the robbery of Sam's Cellphone Service on Tuesday morning. His arraignment will be Thursday morning.

Police say he entered the business, and at gunpoint robbed the victim of an undetermined amount of cashand cellphones. He then fled west on foot.

Tupelo Patrol units, along with TPD K-9, responded to the scene. Subsequent investigation by Tupelo CID units resulted in the recovery of numerous items related to the armed robbery, police said.

As a result of the incident, Rankin School was in lockdown for about an hour, beginning at 9:40 a.m.
