Belle is also involved in a lawsuit filed by his uncle.
In a complaint, filed April 7, Preston Belle alleges Belle withdrew more than $300,000 from his uncle's bank accounts after being granted power of attorney over his uncle's affairs. Also named in the lawsuit are Belle's wife Angie, an employee at Cadence Bank, his son Jeremy Belle and his wife Amber Belle, an employee with Bancorp South. Bancorp South and Cadence Bank are listed as defendants as well.
In his suit, Preston Belle alleges he gave power of attorney to his nephew, Cecil Belle, during a time when his wife, the late India Belle, was ill. Preston Belle claims his nephew influenced him to place his nephew on several bank accounts from which several thousand dollars were allegedly withdrawn.
