UPDATE 3PM: SHORT TERM FORECAST - There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms across portions of Northeast Mississippi this afternoon. Mainly along East of a line from Corinth to Charleston, Mississippi.

The main threat will be damaging winds, with a second threat for large hail and an isolated tornado.


Short Term Forecast

Showers and scattered thunderstorms will continue to affect mainly Northeast Mississippi through mid afternoon. Brief heavy rain and hail may accompany some storms although the storms are weakening. Once the rain ends expect colder temperatures.


Tornado warning from earlier canceled. No reports of damage. A trained spotter reported to the National Weather Service that they spotted a tornado sighted in the Dumas Pine Grove area near Highway 4. Not officially confirmed.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Alcorn, Prentiss, and Tishomingo County in until 1 p.m.

This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms. Temperature falling to around 58 by 5pm. Southwest wind around 15 mph becoming north northwest. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 28. North northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph.
