Sheriff Randy Tolar said Charles David Burleson II, 27, of Erin Street is wanted in connection with the beating of a Thasher man.
Deputies already have charged Jeremy Keith Huguley, 20, of Rienzi with robbery, aggravated assault and grand larceny in the case. He is in the Prentiss County Jail awaiting an initial appearance and bond setting.
Tolar said the incident happened Saturday between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The Thrasher man, whose name is not being released, was found by his father lying in a pool of blood at their residence, according to Tolar.
“As far as we know the motive for the beating was robbery,” said Tolar. “We have also recovered a weapon believed to have been used to assault the victim. Now we need to find Burleson.”
The victim, a man in his mid-40s, was taken to the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville and then airlifted to the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, where he remained in critical condition Tuesday.
Tolar said that if the man dies, Huguley and Burleson could be charged with capital murder.
Capital murder is charged when the killing occurs during the commission of another crime.
Burleson is described as a white male, about 5 feet 9 inches tall weighing about 192 pounds. He is known to frequent the Saltillo and Guntown areas. He is considered armed and dangerous and may be traveling with a woman, possibly his girlfriend.
