My former Tennessean colleague David Climer has a column in the Sunday edition of that newspaper, calling on Pat Summitt to retire. It's well worth a read.
As the adult child of a parent with Alzheimer's, let me say that Summitt has done much to advance awareness of that condition. That could ultimately be as significant to her legacy as her many accomplishments as a basketball coach.
Many of us wondered back in February, when Tennessee was slated to visit both Oxford and Starkville, whether this might be Summitt's last trip to Mississippi as the Lady Vols' head coach. I suspect a decision will be forthcoming soon from Knoxville.
