A busy, busy, busy weekend for Mississippi State starts today, which means today's Daily Journal was chock full of info. Bulldog teams are scattered throughout the region and are looking to do some big things, so let's hit the links to round it all up.
• The Bulldogs meet the Rebels on the baseball diamond at 6:30 p.m. today (ESPNU). Here's my story from the MSU angle, and Parrish Alford writes from the Ole Miss side. I'll have more about this game on the blog later.
• The MSU softball team will also be in Oxford for the SEC Tournament. The No. 8-seeded Lady Bulldogs take on top-seeded and No. 4-ranked Alabama at 6:30 (ESPN2) and are seeking some payback from the regular season, when the Tide earned a sweep in Tuscaloosa. This is MSU's first trip to the SEC Tournament in three years.
• Over in Athens, Ga., the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships get going today. The men's sprint squad is down a couple of key members, but that hasn't caused expectations to be lowered. First-year coach Steve Dudley measures his team by how they do at the NCAAs, though, more than the SECs.
"We don't finish top 25 in the country, I've done a bad job," he said.
• Off the field, football coach Dan Mullen is visiting Tupelo at noon today as part of his Road Dawgs Tour. He'll be at the BancorpSouth Center. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under. I'll be there to report on it.
