'Twas a busy weekend on the MSU campus, and it was capped by Sunday's baseball game against No. 3 Arkansas. The Bulldogs couldn't pull it out, falling 8-5 in 11 innings (CLICK HERE).
But give them credit for scrapping and fighting. Tied it in the ninth with two outs, brought the winning run to the plate in the 11th after going down 8-3. Coach John Cohen was pleased with the effort (CLICK HERE for video).
And hey, junior Sam Frost had a great weekend: 5 of 7 with two RBIs, including a 3-for-3 showing off the bench Sunday. He raised his average from .158 to .308 (CLICK HERE for video).
MSU is now 16-9 overall, 2-4 in SEC play. The Bulldogs are fifth in the Western Division after two series against highly ranked foes. It gets a little easier (in theory) this weekend with a trip to Auburn, although the Tigers are 4-2 in the league thanks to three one-run victories.
"You have to take the positives out of everything," Frost said. "You can't look at things negatively. Baseball's all about confidence. You feel good, you play good. The better we think we are, the better we'll play."
• Spring football resumes Tuesday afternoon, with the Bulldogs donning full gear for the first time since their Music City Bowl win over Wake Forest on Dec. 30. I plan to be on hand for it, but this time with some SPF80 on hand.
If you didn't catch it on Sunday, I had a story about tailbacks Nick Griffin and LaDarius Perkins (CLICK HERE), who will be splitting carries this fall.
• Elsewhere in the SEC, Andy Kennedy put the kibosh on the UAB rumors and says he's staying at Ole Miss (CLICK HERE), and Kentucky is headed to the Final Four (CLICK HERE).
