Looking back at big wins on the Ole Miss beat.

I didn't have to wait long after switching beats before covering a goal-post game. Florida was ranked only No. 20, but that didn't matter to Ole Miss fans who stormed the field in 2002.

Matt Grier picked off Rex Grossman and returned it for a score, a big, big third-quarter play in the Rebels' 17-14 win.

Grossman threw two touchdown passes but was intercepted four times, twice by Grier, one returned 24 yards to the end zone. All the Florida scoring came in the first half, and the Gators led 14-2 at the break.

Grier's pick-six provided the go-ahead points. The only other Ole Miss touchdown came on a 4-yard run by Vashon Pearson. That capped an 18-yard drive set up by Grier's first interception.

Eli Manning didn't throw for 200 yards and didn't have a touchdown pass, but he did become the first member of his family to beat the Gators. Archie never played the Gators, and Peyton was 0-for-4.

Thanks for the stats Deacon. MS State is 20-61 in the SEC from 2002-Now. I feel better now thanks to you.

We could talk about the great football memories of the dogs, but they would all by the games against Ole Miss.

I really hate to put a damper on such a great memory, but the blackbears have gone 22 and 54 in the SEC, since that game and it doesn't look as though Bucky Beaver, aka Freeze, is going to get a SEC win for the blackbears this year!
