VIDEO: Freeze after practice

The news was not good for wide receiver Collins Moore, who dislocated a shoulder in Sunday's practice. The MRI showed a torn labrum. He's out for a long time, possibly the year.

There are a couple of options here, depending on how Moore responds to treatment. Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said he had a guy play with this injury last year at Arkansas State.

Freeze has until the third game to decide if Moore will play or redshirt. The injury will require surgery at some point, but that can wait until the end of the season if Moore responds to treatment.

Here's Moore from his Twitter account: "A minor set back for a major come back, thts all it is #RebelNation"

Moore was starting at the inside receiver spot, and his loss will force the Rebels to go smaller and less physical there, Freeze said. Off the top of his head he mentioned Philander Moore, Korvic Neat and Tobias Singleton as candidates to work into Collins Moore's first-team role.

Neat procuded a couple of highlights today, one catch deep downfield on a pass from Barry Brunetti, another a touchdown catch of some 30 yards on a Bo Wallace pass at the goalline in the middle of the field.

Charles Sawyer, also injured Sunday, has a torn quad and will miss four to six weeks.

Freshmen Trae Elston and Quintavius Burdette will get more playing time as a result. "They're going to be good ones. How good they're going to be as true freshmen I don't know," Freeze said.

The defense continues to outpace the offense in these workouts, but I thought the running game looked better today. There were several nice runs, and they weren't all by the same guys.

Freeze attributed part of that success to the installation of "gap scheme stuff" with the offense.

He did speak out against complacency, the willingness to accept the status quo and having to encourage players to fight harder. He talks about that in the video above.

In other news, juco defensive back Louis Covington joined the team today. Freeze is still awaiting word from the NCAA Clearinghouse on freshmen Channing Ward and Temario Strong.

The Turtleman is rumored to be hired to get some snapping turtles out of Puskus Lake, so he will be in the area for "battle of the bears" game. It just makes sense that he will be performing some "live action" for the blackbear fans.
