The bullpen troubles were magnified last night as Georgia rallied from a late 4-2 deficit by scoring six runs in the bottom of the eighth to win 8-4.

Ole Miss dropped to 6-7 in SEC play and in those seven losses the Rebels have been tied or ahead in the eighth inning five times.

Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco changed up some things in the bullpen going with Aaron Greenwood as the first guy out, a role that had been played by Dylan Chavez.

Greenwood got the call early after another short start by Bobby Wahl (4.1 IP) and did some good things, pitching a scoreless sixth and seventh, but he allowed the first two runners in the eighth to reach base, and they scored against Brett Huber, who went on to give up four more runs that inning.

The first two balls against Huber weren't smoked. One was a potential double-play ball, but the Georgia runner broke up the double-play with a high slide at second. The other would likely have been an out had Ole Miss shortstop Austin Anderson been in regular position and not shaded toward second base in double play position.

The three-run double from Kyle Farmer that ultimately decided the game was on a fastball that missed up.

Offense was OK, nine hits. You're not going to get a lot of runs in an SEC opener. Bottom line is, when you get to the eighth inning you're counting outs, and with a two-run lead you need bullpen depth to allow you to close the game. The Rebels are still trying to find that.
