Camp Wilderness is complete, and the focus is turning to Central Arkansas.

Yes, it's an FCS foe for the Ole Miss opener. Jacksonville State isn't that long ago, and the Rebels didn't play particularly well against Southern Illinois last year. They're not in a position to take anyone for granted.

Hugh Freeze says beyond quarterback and safety other positions are set. They're still mixing and matching a few defensive backs, but I'm guessing the five will be Wesley Pendleton and Senquez Golson at the corners, Dehendret Collins at Huskie and Charles Sawyer and Cody Prewitt at the safeties.

Freeze says both Bo Wallace and Barry Brunetti will play at quarterback but hasn't announced a plan for that. It will be in large part determined by the flow of the game. The guess here is Wallace will start. He'll have the first opportunity to have the "hot hand," and Freeze did say that if either quarterback got on a roll he'd stay in the game.

The biggest passing game concerns I've seen in camp have been Wallace's inability to go an entire practice without an interception - usually because of a decision - and Brunetti's habit of having passes batted at the line of scrimmage.

Questions, comments, topics ... leave them here.

I'll be checking the blog throughout the day.

I have all these friends who seem to know all this inside scoop on Freeze. Question, are we really about to seem football only as it exists in conferences non proximal to the SEC?

what's up guys? I am settled in now and got my bundle together and the weather is great out here! We got daytime temps in the 70's and the nights are a bit chilly in 40's. I feel like I have missed out on a lot. Trying to catch up with the current events. Do the Bulldogs still hate those Blackbears? I read where Bo Wallace will start game one, is that true? And is State is big trouble, what do you guys think? I have missed all your comments as I am sure you have missed mine, but I am back on the air waves, as it were. GO DAWGS!!!!

PA, I watched a few of his games, when he was a sr.. He just has a flare, that is hard to deny! Best way to describe him is he is a "natural", but raw. A winner, who is quicker than a hic up and can fling it off either foot. Just exciting! He may be better suited at another position, but in hs he was extraordinary, at least to me. I was hoping Mullen would sign him, but I don't think he would have had much PT at MSU, at least not at QB.

Chris, I think the offensive line is the most improved part of this team through camp. It also had the farthest to travel. They're getting much more comfortable with the system and with one another. They've got about eight guys they feel like they can count on. Aaron Morris is back, and his injury (Achilles) had some positive effects. I think it motivated him, and it got lots of reps for Justin Bell, who will play a role this season.

PA, what's your thought on the olines overall improvement so far? i think this will be the most crucial part of the team.

Archaeo, I've seen Brunetti have balls batted from several angles. Practice is limited to seven periods for us now, so he may be improving. I'm not seeing it all. When you're not a tall quarterback you have to do something to improve your sight lines and get better passing angles. I suspect they'll pass less with Brunetti and will be very aware of those angles when he does pass.

17mph, Miller's had a good camp. Have you watched him before? You've got a lot of interest here.

Archaeo, I watched Tyson Lee get so many batted balls it wasn't funny. When you roll the QB out, you cut the defensive field in half, making it a smaller area to cover. The best thing to do is make sure the Oline makes very wide passing lanes for upfield vision, but you have to have an extremely good Oline for that! When Lee was in, you just expected pick 6's every pass and indeed that happened alot! Still want to see the Miller kid, I know it's tough for a fresman to to get the speed of the game, but dang that kid has some juice!

Is Brunetti's batted balls because of him trying to be a pocket passer mainly? If so then come game time the opposing teams will know to make a bigger effort of getting their hands up more than normal to block passes. Doesn't sound to good because all batted balls are potential pick-6's. Any extra effort been made on rolling him out of the pocket for a little more vision downfield?

17mph, the blister thing and missing practice really wasn't all that surprising. He attended practice and did everything but throw. Obviously throwing and throwing under duress is where he needs the most work. They got him back involved with a glove and he did the best he could. Blisters have kept pitchers out of work in baseball.

Churn, not all of us Mstate fans are so negative as some are. I take great interest in both schools. I am like you, in the fact that I don't live in The Magnolia State any longer and I miss my red clay hills. I may poke fun of Bo's blister, but I really couldn't believe he missed a practice for that! I know it won't happen this season, but I wish the Miller kid could get into a game at QB.
