The Ole Miss-Tulane game, Sept. 22 at the Superdome, was announced on Thursday by Tulane as an 11 a.m. kickoff. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net.

It is the first announced kickoff time of the year for Ole Miss. It is also the first road game. Ole Miss opens the season with home games against Central Arkansas, UTEP and Texas, the UCA game being on Sept. 1.

If you like night football, and many people do, Tulane is not the place to be. The Green Wave has a 7 p.m., kick against Rutgers in its season opener, but the Times-Picayune reports that all remaining Tulane kick times will be morning or afternoon.

On the subject of early-season football, a few notes here on other Ole Miss opponents.

Beginning with UCA, the Bears are expecting big things out of their secondary this season.

In El Paso, federal budget cuts have affected the way UTEP coach Mike Price goes about recruiting in the summer. Price is 45-42 at UTEP, and here's a look at the Miners heading into 2012.

The Rebels are at home against Texas on Sept. 15. Texas coach Mack Brown is fired up for his class of freshmen, and while the Longhorns are on the rebound, Brown says they can be a top 10 team. Texas has gone just 13-12 the last two seasons, 8-5 last year after a 5-7 mark in 2010.
