Interesting comments from Washington State AD Bill Moos here in this story that appeared in Sunday's Seattle Times.

It was emailed to me by Will Robinson, who was a student trainer at Tupelo High School, later at the University of Georgia, and now lives in Seattle area.

Moos hired former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, and this story details the challenges of a modern day football coach search. Moos speaks candidly about the Washington State process and takes a shot at a couple of other schools - one of them Ole Miss - in the process.

Moos says candidly that some hires left him scratching his head.

"There's the Charlie Weis deal," he says of Kansas' hire. "He failed miserably at Notre Dame, but, 'By God, he was at Notre Dame.' Down at Ole Miss, they have to have 15 people on a search committee (actually it was five). By the time they get through the introductions on the search committee, all the good coaches are hired.

"I don't need 15 people sitting at the table. Where are the other 14 when I get evaluated on (the performance of) my football coach?"

There's much more in the story as it looks at other Pac-12 searches as well, including the one led by Arizona AD Greg Byrne, formerly of Mississippi State.

I think everyone has forgotten that we didnt have an AD at the time that Freeze was hired. All we had was lame duck Boone.

So we entrusted the coaching hire to the committee. If we'd had Bjork on board at the time, the process would've been different.

So Mr. Moos was speaking to a situation where he didn't understand all of the facts.

boys there isn't a bigger ole miss fan anywhere than i am but i think this moos guy is right. i think one of the biggest jobs of the athletic director is to have a list of potential coaches on hand and be able to move at a moments notice. in fact the 2 guys he talked about leech and rodregiues wer my no. 1 and 3 picks for us to hire. i think coach freeze will probably be a successful head coach in time but these 2 guys have already proven themselves.

Sorry turfgal, I'm not embarassed to be a Rebel. Quite proud. Yes, we've had a rough few years in football, but it's about to change. Lost quite a few sec games over the past few years, but not 22. So I assume you graduated from msu, since you can't do math. #failstate

I just cant figure out why you are so obsessed with all things Ole Miss. Ive seen your posts on the msu board, and even when talking about msu, you mention Ole Miss.

Dearest Rebelgiant,

I realize that these are embarrassing times to be a Rebelbear. You know, with having a former women's basketball coach for a head football coach, but it's not your fault..it's not your fault. Just let it out and if you feel the need to take a shot at Turfguy, well then go right ahead. I am a big boy and can take it. Yes, you are correct a cow goes moo, a duck goes quack and little Rebelbears go cry cry cry and so the story goes. Now, can you count to 22? As in 22 straight SEC football losses.

Bill Moos...Keeping it real! I thought it was Manning and only Manning that runs the show. I just can't get enough of Bill Moos. He should run for president.
