New receiver depth at Ole Miss will likely be put to the test on opening day.

Junior Melvin Harris was dressed out and practicing on Wednesday but not so a day later as lingering back pain had him in shorts and out of action.

"We're just not counting on him right now," Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said. "We've gone without him for about a week now. We have to coach the guys who are out there. If he comes back it's a bonus."

If Harris isn't available freshman Donte Moncrief will start. Moncrief had a 53-yard touchdown catch and a 35-yard touchdown run in last Saturday's scrimmage. He is going to be a big part of the plan regardless.

The rotation is the important thing, and lots of receivers will play.

Defensive end Jason Jones (knee) and tight end Ferbia Allen (knee) also did not practice today.
