Update 3:40 p.m.

We'll go to practice in a bit. Nutt will talk after practice. Not much more has turned up by way of OPD. Officers responded to a fight at the Lyric. According to the arrest report Mackey was taken into custody after he "came forward and hit the officer in the lip." Mackey insisted he was pushed and was taken outside. We'll see about 6:30 or so if Nutt has gathered enough information to update his decision. On the radio it sounded like he had a good idea that Mackey would not be available against BYU.

Update 12:43 p.m.

Here's the tweet from Eli Savoie, whose Twitter page says he's the midday host for WHBQ in Memphis:

This Houston Nutt statement issued through media relations is less strong: "We are currently gathering information on the incident involving Randall. Once we have all the facts, we will determine the appropriate course of action."

Savoie just posted a link to the radio interview with Nutt: HERE IT IS

As we speak of the quarterbacks this morning comes the news that Randall Mackey was arrested last night on charges of disorderly conduct.

The Clarion-Ledger blogged this morning that Mackey was arrested in connection with a fight at The Lyric around midnight and that Mackey has been released from jail.

Disorderly conduct is a misdemeanor.

Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt will talk after today's practice and will no doubt address his quarterbacks and now other things as well.

Also over the weekend tight end Jamal Mosley was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with public drunk, according to Oxfordcrimereport.com.

It's Mosley's first brush with law enforcement at Ole Miss but not his first brush with the law.

ESPN blogged in Sept. 2009 that Mosley was under a restraining order filed by a female at the time that he left Oklahoma State for what was defined as “personal reasons.” He had also been charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession earlier that summer.

The University has been picked LAST in the SEC west 2 years in a row now. A lot of people had unrealistic expectations last year, and we lost at least 3 games (JSU, UT and Vandy) that we should have won. I think the majority of people who support the University are glad to have HN and are optimistic about our future.

Brown, thanks for checking in. Good points. I think the answer is a combination of things. People expected a drop-off last year but not a drop like that, the Jacksonville State loss, the way they lost at Tennessee. Plus they've lost to State twice in two years now. Then throw in the suspensions last year and the fact that some people this time of year are looking for who they can put on a "hot seat," and it all adds up.

PA, I've got a question that has been on my mind for a while. I'm 26 years old and live in Florida, I've been watching OM Sports for almost 12 years and absolutely love the school. I'm wondering why so many people in and around the university seem to be unhappy with the coaching job Houston Nutt has done. I understand we had a bad year but we also had a lot of turnover as far as players go, what really gets me is that for the first time in what seems like 40 years, Ole Miss had back to back 9 win seasons with quality bowl victories in both. Why are so many people claiming that he is on "The Hot Seat" when he has done his best to make this university relevant again. I don't understand how we gave Ed Orgeron 3 years and almost no results were produced but after two quality seasons and one bad year some individuals are calling for his job. I kinda feel like the "instant gratification" virus has gotten a hold of the OM fan base, could you shed some light on this? Huge fan of the blog, keep up the good work, God bless.
