Spanning the SEC globe on a Monday morning. ...

From Charleston, S.C., Gene Sapakoff writes that it's tragic that LSU and South Carolina haven't played baseball more than they have.

From Nashville, Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin believes his Commodores' sweep of Ole Miss has secured an NCAA berth.

Tennessee coach Dave Serrano led Fullerton and Irvine to Omaha and says it's an "empty" feeling to be finished playing baseball after the final regular season game. He believes a 2013 recruiting class that includes 13 players with more signings likely will help the Vols improve next season.

There's a Big 10 debate brewing about what to do to improve the conference's national baseball profile. Illinois coach Dan Hartlieb hopes artifical turf is a step in that direction.

In college football ...

From Shreveport, Scott Ferrell writes about the likelihood of the four-team playoff and what that might look like.

I hope you are correct, in my view the defense is where one starts to build a football team as pitchers in baseball team. I do have confidence in Coach Freeze, I also had great confidence in Coach Nutt and I still believed in Nutt he just had two bad years with the Rebels and the higher echelons axed him, Maybe he was not the one that needed axing but some of those up higher, now they are all gone and its Freeze's show. SO we will see if the Demons are still attached to the Rebels.

Im telling you Hugh Freeze is going to have The Football Team in the right direction. He is going to bring the talent in.. Talent that hasn't been here in a looong time, and if we can land Robert Nkemdiche in February your looking at a number one Defense in the country in 2 years..

With all theses star studded committed players, will we be seeing the return of Johnny Vaught Teams

to Ole Miss? National prominent teams that once made Rebel football famous. I doubt it. I still ask the question, What has happened to the winning spirit that Ole Miss once had? Any one out there got the answer. I have been a Rebel fan for over 60 years and I cannot come up with the answer. I do have some observations about it but I would be "political incorrect". So I will wait for the answers from others that are in the political correctness mode.

"The Curse of Colonel Reb" is real. Take a look back at Rebelbear sports since the Colonel's exile and you will see moderate success in football, almost none in hoops and very little in baseball. This downward trend is not just happenstance, it all started when the Colonel was force out in the biggest "coup de tat" since the Kennedy assassination. Trust me Rebelbears, you must find a way to end the curse. Turfguy is on your side in this one, because it is just embarrassing for Magnolia State to have a university failing the way Oxfart is.

The Rebels landed a commitment last night from Memphis (East) defensive tackle Herbert Moore.

Moore, listed at 6-1 or 6-2 and 330 or is the 10th verbal commit in Ole Miss’ class of 2013

He's a 3 Star on rivals & Scout

No. 66 defensive tackle in the country
