We interrupt this football media day for a basketball report.
I spoke with new compliance director Matt Ball a few minutes ago regarding the paper work for Murphy Holloway, who is asking the NCAA to waive its requirement that transfers sit out a year before being eligible to play.
Holloway, of course, is a double transfer, coming back to Ole Miss after leaving in May of 2010 to transfer to South Carolina for personal reasons. He sat out last year with the Gamecocks.
“We met with basketball this morning. We want to put together as strong a case as we possibly can,” said Ball, who is hopeful the request will be submitted to the NCAA by the end of the month.
From there, he believes the NCAA could issue an answer within a couple of weeks.
Because Holloway's sport is not presently in season the case won't get priority treatment.
