Rankings don't mean a lot after one game, because it takes a while for the body of work to develop.

Still, some interesting numbers to consider after Week 1.

The Ole Miss secondary, 81st in the NCAA in pass defense efficiency last year, is currently 56th. The Rebels allowed 225 yards, one touchdown, and picked off one pass.

Ole Miss ranked No. 107 in the nation, last in the SEC, in scoring defense last year at 35.2 points per game allowed. Right now the Rebels are 32nd in the nation, No. 5 in the SEC at 14.0 ppg.

Ole Miss was third in the SEC, 18th in the NCAA last year in rushing offense. Currently the Rebels are 102nd in the NCAA, last in the SEC at 64.0 ypg.

BYU punted five times in the game. The Rebels were able to return only one punt, which Jeff Scott returned 44 yards. Individuals must average 1.2 returns per game to be ranked, but as a team, the NCAA lists the Rebels No. 1 in punt returns with a  44.0-yard average.
