Newcomers, vets had six days off between summer school and report day. Vets report tomorrow.

Freshman DB Denzel Nkemdiche is expected to report but didn't report today. There is an academic issue to clear up.

DE Kameron Wood (shoulder) also did not report, and it's possible he'll grayshirt and be a mid-year enrollee.

Itawamba AHS quarterback Maikhail Miller, as expected, will grayshirt, and Taylorsville linebacker Marcus Mayers will attend Jones Junior College.

Among the newcomers is Tanner Burns, defensive back and son of assistant coach Keith Burns. Tanner is transferring from Kansas State, and Ole Miss will request an NCAA waiver for him to be eligible immediately. Here's a link.

Nutt said he expects big things from the class of receivers, singling out Tobias Singleton, Nick Brassell and Donte Moncrief along the way. He said the other receivers “felt it” this summer.

Brassell is definitely a receiver, but he will be taught certain defensive plays too, Nutt said.

Nutt praised juco transfer Aaron Garbutt, who like DT transfer Uriah Grant was unable to make it for spring drills, for the obvious conditioning work he's done this summer.

Nutt on the class: “This group could make this place special, if they stay together here the next four to five years, real special.”
