The guy has his own website and is among the frontrunners, the frontrunner perhaps, for the Heisman Trophy.

Untill last week I thought Ole Miss might have a decent shot to slow Cam Newton. He just seems to get stronger, however, and the Rebels took a backward step in run defense last week.

Maybe the Rebels can tackle better and show the form they did against Alabama the week before, but the Ole Miss-Cam Newton matchup tilts a little stronger in Newton's favor now.

Looking ahead to the weekend, here's a look at what Newton has accomplished, mostly on the ground, in Auburn's 8-0 start:

- Leads the SEC and ranks sixth nationally (second among QBs) in rushing with 134.6 yards a game.

- Leads the nation in rushing touchdowns with 14 and in combined rushing-passing touchdowns with 27.

- Is the only player in the nation with five 170-plus rushing yard games this season.

- Is the only Auburn player other than Bo Jackson to have five 170-plus yard games in one season.

- Is ranked third in the nation in pass efficiency (172.08).

- Has been better against SEC opponents, averaging 169.8 rushing yards.

- Leads his nearest SEC rushing competitor by 354 yards.

- Will likely become the first quarterback to lead the SEC in rushing since Auburn's Jimmy Sidle in 1963.

Maybe Ole Miss should cut and run and not show up for the Auburn game on Saturday. From what I take on the above and other reports, this Pam Newton is one awesome football player. If young David had heard all these reports about Goliath, he would probably have cut and run too. But he didn't, he stayed and fought and slay that giant. Maybe them little ole Rebel boys should use some of the battle tactic on Newton that David used on Goliath. Naw don't think so, the Ole Miss Black Bears just gona roll over and play dead or stick their heads into the turf so they can't see the battle around them.

The Rebels could win this football game if they don't listen to all the reports out there about how bad they are going to be beaten.

Remus, I'm not sure they're that bad in open-field tackling. Lots of times missed tackles are attributed to being out of position. Players say that's not the case, but I know on that 71-yard run by Knile Davis, when he broke through the line, only Johnny Brown was there. He broke that tackle and was gone. Might have just been a good play call by Arkansas against the defense called by Tyrone Nix.

PA - When I attended one of the preseson scrimmages earlier this year, I was really impressed with the improvement the Rebels defense had made in an area that had been a sore point over the last few seasons...open-field tackling. Now that the season has commenced, I don't see the same. Are the Rebel offensive players just that much easier to bring down? BTW, very impressed with freshman defensive backs...they really "bring the wood" so to speak.

We stopped a guy named teebo in the swamp bleed redandblue a couple years ago so lets have faith. I agree with what you are saying also when we are on off it looks like a chinese fire drill out there sometimes everyone pulling in opposite directions.Auburn was very lucky against Clemson and Kentucky and like you said had Jordan hare behind them most of the year. We are adding seats for this one emails going out to season ticket holders if we dont buy these up they going on sale thursday so Auburn can snap them up so get em.I just love our administration seeing this opp and filling it up with auburn people dam dam dam.

I may be the only one that thinks this but i believe that we play up and play down to whoever we're playing each week. I don't really understand this, it's kinda the same thing that Les Miles has going on in Tigerland, i don't like it. Jacksonville ST. and Vandy should've never even been in the game with us by half time in both of those games. We played up on Bama and Ark in the second halves of the games. As a coach you've got to come out and play your game week in and week out no matter who you are playing, we did that back when KA was our offensive coordinator but since Nutt has been calling all the shots we haven't really put it on a team yet, not to our capability at all. We should've killed JV ST, Tulane, Vandy , and should beat UL- LAF soundly in 2 weeks. I like it that he gets his players up for big games such as the one this weekend but you've got to play your cards the same way in the smaller games to make it. I hope that I'm wrong here but i see us playing with AU and keeping CAM NEWTON held in check for the majority of the game but they pull it out in the end which they are sooo good at doing time and time again this year. The only upside i see to this game is that AU hasn't played many games away from JORDAN HAIRE this year, and if our fanbase will make it an electric atmosphere it would make it a lil tougher on them. Stop Cam for 4 quarters and play offense for 4 quarters then it won't be a game. HEY one can dream aye...
