Unfortunately, this was the Ole Miss offense that we saw toward the end of the season. TCU threw a left-hander Brandon Finnegan, and the left-handed lineup - along with the regular daily players - didn't respond enough.

John Gatlin got the start at DH and delivered an RBI single in the sixth, but he was thrown out at second trying to advance.

The Rebels didn't create too many other opportunities for themselves. They pushed across a run in the first with a bit of a small ball. Tanner Mathis walked, was bunted to second by Auston Bousfield, but Alex Yarbrough struck out for the second out of the inning. Mathis scored on a two-out single by Matt Snyder, one of three hits on the night for Snyder.

All three Snyder hits were singles, though, as were all of the Rebels' six hits, nothing for extra bases.

Mathis, one of the hottest hitters in the regional, was 0-for-3 after the first-inning walk.

RJ Hively baffled the Horn Frogs for three innings but after that began to leave some balls up, and TCU took advantage in the fourth with a two-run home run from Derek Odell to grab a lead it would never lose.

Hively went 5.2 innings and gave up four runs, the fourth run an inherited runner allowed home by Aaron Greenwood in the sixth. Hively scattered five hits, two walks and struck out six. Greenwood finished up, going the final 3.1 innigns with three hits, a run, a walk and a strikeout.

Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said he will pitch Bobby Wahl in some capacity in tomorrow's single game for the championship. Mike Mayers could pitch too. Bianco did not name a starter, nor did TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle, who basically said almost all of his pitchers would be available as well.

So this is it. The Rebels can close out the College Station Regional with a win against TCU at 6:35 p.m.

The Horned Frogs eliminted the No. 1 seed and host Texas A&M 10-2 in today's earlier game.

TCU came in struggling on offense like Ole Miss, and like Ole Miss, has found itself in the regional. There are some differences. Ole Miss put up six runs against TCU's No. 1 starter, while the Rebels' pitching held the Horned Frogs to two runs.

TCU scored 28 runs against Dayton's second-day pitching on Saturday. A&M committed four errors leading to three unearned runs in the elimination game earlier today.

Still, TCU comes into tonight's game with an offense growing in confidence.

Pitching is thinner for both teams now.

For the Rebels, now is the time. Now is the advantage. If you don't win this game, you're just as much on edge as TCU for one final game on Monday. For all the pitching that is used up during the regional, those Day 1 starters come back into play in some capacity in a Monday winner-take-all game. Everybody's on short rest, but it's win or go home.
