Welcome to Prediction Thursday for 2012.

What'cha got? Bring it to the table. (And other cliches.)

The Hugh Freeze Era begins Saturday night at 6 against Central Arkansas. You have to be there or order the pay-per-view if you're going to see it.

Here's what I think you will see:

First, an Ole Miss win, but here's how the Rebels will get there.

One, a running game. Even with Jeff Scott unlikely to play. The Rebels should be able to get through this game without Jeff Scott as the Ole Miss OL will out-weigh the UCA defensive front by an average of 37 pounds. The absence of Scott will be felt more next week against UTEP if he's not back to good health.

For Saturday, Randall Mackey will have a solid debut. The freshmen, I'Tavius Mathers and Jaylen Walton, will get carries too, but the staff will go easy here and make sure they've adapted to the nerves that go along with your first college game.

Freeze will name a starting quarterback later today, and the guess here says it's Bo Wallace. Wallace and Barry Brunetti will both play. Freeze has said that from the very beginning. You'll see Wallace be effective but throw one interception. Brunetti, the running quarterback, will get some things done with a package that wasn't shown during open periods of practice, another guess

There's a lot of excitement for Ole Miss football right now, the excitement that typically follows a coaching change. There has been genunine improvement in camp: the OL, the RBs, DB Louis Covington come to mind.

But the last memory of Ole Miss football in game action is not good. There are a lot of veterans who are eager to atone for this memory, and it would be a good thing for the Rebels to experience success early.

UCA is a good, solid team at its level, much like Jacksonsville State was two years ago. The Bears, 9-4 and a playoff team last year, are ranked No. 21 in FCS. They return six all-Southland Conference players, one of them wide receiver Jesse Grandy, formerly of Ole Miss. They will have a mobile quarterback, three senior running backs and an offense similar to Freeze's in terms of formations and tempo.

The Rebels need to play a solid, efficient game. That doesn't mean they have to win by three touchdowns for the game to be a success, but they need to show a good understanding of schemes. They need to be confident and in control.

At the end of the night, don't expect to have a lot of questions answered about this Ole Miss team. If they play well and win, the natural response will be, "Well, it was an FCS team."

If questions are answered the answers won't be good. It will mean that UCA has pushed the Rebels, maybe even won the game, and that rebuilding Ole Miss football is behind schedule.

Leave your predictions and analysis below.

Prediction: Ole Miss 28, UCA 14

You can really change your username fast.

What's the story behind Daddybear12? Must be DaddyB ear 12, after one of your 2012 adventures swinging through the Amazon (golf course) and a bolder (golf ball) struck you in the ear.

The rebs will struggle early and Ark will score first. Wallace will throw an early interception but will become more confortable in the second half Rebs win 31-17

Oh and it's BBO, not BBD. I see! You thought that my username was Black Bear Down. No no, it's Black Beard Own. You see I have had my beard since my college days, some folks tell me that I resemble Dusty Hill, from the Rock N Blues Band, ZZ Top! I suppose it was a logical mistake on your part.

I understand you questioning what the data shows and numbers cannot measure the inner strength of athletes, the numbers are merely a reference point. I don't understand the minor in grass cutting statement. I have a minor in Paleontology, which I use more than my Engineering Degree. I use the mathmatics to help me to understand the dynamics of the evolutionary devices and organisms that I study. There is no grass cutting in my employment, though. ???

bold prediction BBD, but you know how that degree looks if you are wrong? You may have to fall back on your minor in grass cutting.

Lee, I believe that I do have a clue about the blackbear's chances. Through statistical analysis, where I formed a simple binary logarithm for comparisons of each team. I also used computational complexity theory, where the numbers were indisputable. It's that darned engineering degree from the cow college.

Rebels win, 34 - 17

Next question is how many wins.

Hope they play well in all 4 home SEC games. I don't know how many games the Rebels win, but they need to win 3 before the SEC games start.

USC probably wins by 10 tonight, but I'd love Vandy to upset

"It's Vandy for God's sake?" You do realize that the Ole Miss Blackbears haven't beaten Vandy in over 1,000 days. The Blackbears have a 2 game losing streak vs Vandy and are 2 and 5 in the last 7 games vs Vandy?

OM 35 - UCA 17, unless it is raining heavily. Then the scores will be much lower with Ole Miss still on top.

Blackbeardown, go back to your MSU boards. You don't have a clue what kind of chance Ole Miss has. All you want to do is antagonize, as your name clearly suggests. I have mentioned before my predictions for the season. As far as showing improvement, Ole Miss will have a much better season than MSU this year. I predict that Ole Miss will win 4-5 games this year and MSU 6 (regular season). MSU sets up their schedule to almost assure themselves of winning 4 games. Then, if they win 2 SEC games, they can brag about going to a bowl game at 6-6. I also predict that MSU fans will be crying to fire Mullen within two years. And by the way, a few years back when MSU won 8 games under Croom, many MSU fans were talking about winning 9-10 games the next year. I shared then with many of my MSU friends that MSU would have a losing season the next year. The next year MSU fired Croom.

Ole Miss will win, but we aren't playing the Jackson State Tigers. We are playing the #21 team (FCS) in the nation with several Div. 1 players on their team. Ole Miss will score on the first play of the game and never look back. Ole Miss 45-21

The big prediction, who will win the South Carolina vs. Vandy Game? I think James Franklin is the best up and coming coach in college football right now. Upset alert or No way, it's Vandy for God's sake?

lee, havent you heard? We are in the wilderness and lack SEC caliber players. I dont think Coach Freeze is as favored as is Moses, who came up just short of the promised land I believe.

Hope your right, but I am jaded I suppose

Lee814, Dude! As the great Johnny McEnroe once exclaimed, "You cannot be SERIOUS!"

First, you didn't even predict a score and B. There is not a chance of winning 5 games, bro!

Now Deuce, I am thinking 5 wins this year. I know that I have higher expectations than most, but I believe that the Rebels under Coach Freeze will surprise a lot of folks this year.

It is an FCS team, but they are good for their league. Ole MIss will wear them down by the 3rd quarter and previal.

Last years team gave up during several games. We saw people not giving 100%. We saw people short-arming passes. This team will play hard. Obviously we are not going to win 10 games this year but they will be improved.

Ole Miss - 38

UCA - 10
