It will be hard for Tyler Campbell, the Rebels' junior punter, to be better than he was in 2010 when amid the ruin of 4-8 he was a national champion.

The Little Rock native led the NCAA in punting last season with an average of 46.37 yards on 60 kicks, becoming the 20th national statistical champion in school history.

Bigger than a lot of specialists at 6-2, 227, Campbell has the build of an outside linebacker. Perhaps that contributes to his booming kicks.

Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt was coaching at Arkansas, and Campbell was in middle school when Nutt first noticed him at an Arkansas camp.

Aside from Nutt, it's been hard for Campbell to gain much attention.

Campbell was only second-team All-SEC last season and though he led the nation he failed to make either the coaches or media All-SEC first teams this season. He also was left off the summer watch list for the Ray Guy Award, which goes to the nation's top punter.

Even champions can get better, and staff would like to see Campbell improve his hang time and pooch punting.
