This is a random order. Here's reason No. 15 that Ole Miss will be improved in 2011.

Wesley Pendleton could stands on his own merit for Ole Miss improvement, but the need factor has grown significantly in the last several days.

Depth in the Ole Miss secondary will go the way of the U.S., credit rating in a few hours – downgrade – unless something unforeseen happens in Senquez Golson negotiations with the Boston Red Sox.

Pendleton, a juco track All-American, was the first step in the Rebels' speed upgrade when he signed with Ole Miss last December, a mid-year transfer from Copiah-Lincoln CC.

Pendleton had 11 pass break-ups and three interceptions at Co-Lin last season.

As he went through spring drills sometimes that speed wasn't fully displayed, because Pendleton was feeling his way around. In camp he's played faster. He's run with the first and second team units and will likely be in a three-corner rotation on opening day with Charles Sawyer and Marcus Temple.

Pendleton had two pass break-ups in Saturday's scrimmage and seems more confident on the field.

It was a good day for the pass defense overall, holding the offense to 5-for-15. The fact that the offense attempted only 15 passes tells you a little about where the offense is headed. The secondary will be tested in a big way in the opener against BYU.

From the looks of things they'll be prepared. Hopefully that will be the case. There's likely to be a little less support behind the rotation.

Blue, I think you will see lots of wrinkles out of the 4-3. I hesitate to use the word "loaded" at safety. I think there's plenty of talent, but so much of it is inexperienced behind Damien Jackson and Brishen Mathews. I think Ivan Nicholas, Aaron Garbutt and Cody Prewitt are going to help.

There is more talent and speed on this defense than there was last year. Inexperience at so many positions will be a concern until these guys get a few games in.

We seem to be loaded in the safety dept. Is this how it looks to you PA? As far as depth goes we should look good in all areas other than the CB and LB positions. Barring any major injuries we should be ok here. I like the way NUTT anc CO recruited the team speed this year. Pendleton's speed I think will be a big boost for your secondary. Think we will play him out of our base 4-3 and replace him with either temple or sawyer and drop in another safety when we throw the 4-2-5 out there. Your thoughts on this
