I didn't make it to the Ole Miss practice yesterday, but Senquez Golson did. He spoke with reporters afterwards and talked about looking ahead not back. His decision to reject a Boston Red Sox offer of more than a million, reportedly, was about keeping his options open. He can still go NFL or MLB in the three years, he says.

Golson basically missed a week of camp because of baseball negotiations, an important second week of learning and reps for a guy who's going to be one the field.

It's a small sacrifice for what he offers for the next three years. I don't think he'll have to run stadiums because of his absence. He's a quick learner and should be able to catch up without much difficulty. He was back in the rotation in practice yesterday and talked about feeling just a little slow. He'll get up to speed and will take part in the scrimmage today.

It's Meet the Rebels day today beginning at noon at the indoor practice facility. The scrimmage is tonight at 6 at the stadium and is open to the public. Practice media rules apply, so there's no live updates, but I'll have notes on the blog this evening if I don't fall out ill the way I did last week. I wasn't ill because of the scrimmage, just a summer cold.

In the meantime, the season is here … the cross country season. The Tupelo High practice meet is this morning, and we're off and running. Literally.

I have been out of the loop now for over a week due to illness and lost out on alot of Ole Miss news reports. Must say that Golsen is a Mississippi gambler by refusing a bird in the hand in lieu of one in the bush.

I have a feelin that Randall Mackey will be the Rebel stating QB. My support goes for him. I think that he can move that big Rebel Mobile Machine better.

Further, I think that 4th Quarter will belong to the Rebels.

Wishing all a good day - God Bless!
