One of the things the Rebels were concerned about coming into tonight's game was their running attack. Last Saturday, Ole Miss lost its top two running backs; Brandon Bolden and Enrique Davis.

While Bolden is expected to be out for a couple of weeks, Enrique Davis was on the depth chart during the week for SIU, but he didn't practice all week. Davis didn’t dress out for the game.

In his place, Jeff Scott had a very big game. Scott rushed for 118 yards (210 all purpose), and put together a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown early in the first quarter.

He reached the end zone three times in the first quarter - four for the game - and became the first player to score two rushing touchdowns and return a punt for a touchdown in the same game since Deuce McAllister did against Auburn in 2000.

He became the first Ole Miss player to scored three touchdowns in a quarter since running back Randy Baldwin did in 1990.

Scott’s three touchdowns were a career-high, and was the first Ole Miss player to have three rushing touchdowns since Dexter McCluster ran for four against Tennessee in 2009.

This was Scott’s second 100 yard rushing game in his career, and the most all-purpose yards since he totaled 214 against LSU last year.

Scott believes he will produce more big games like he had tonight.

“I've just got to work harder in practice, run more sprints to prepare myself for the game,” Scott said. “I was pretty tired playing in the punt and kick return game. That's something we'll discuss with the coaches, if I'll be able to handle kick return, punt return and running back. I have 100 percent confidence in my coaches that they will make the right decision.”
