Given the noteworthy struggles along the offensive line it is unfair for the quarterback position to shoulder all blame for the problems on offense.

But that's where change usually takes place. The quarterback has unique responsibilities within the team. Zack Stoudt has thrown six interceptions and just one pass in the last two games in which Ole Miss has been outscored by a combined 57-21.

Not all the picks have been his fault, but they go on his record.

That being said Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt says he plans no change at quarterback but will continue to evaluate the position.

There was change on the offensive line against Georgia, and the move of freshman Aaron Morris into the starting lineup was viewed favorably even though Morris didn't finish the game.

Freshmen typically have a hard time breaking into the offensive line, and it's hard for one guy to make a noticeable impact up there.

Sometimes a change is made at quarterback to see if it will spark the offense. If that is the immediate plan, it isn't being discussed publicly.

Out of 120 FBS teams, Ole Miss doesn't rank better than 102 in any of the NCAA's major statistical categories on offense.

That's troubling across the board but particularly in the run game. Nutt takes a lot of pride in the run game, and the Rebels are currently 102nd in the nation, 11th in the SEC at 90.50 yards a game.

“We have to have a running game. We have to. We feel like Enrique (Davis) will be closer to full speed. Brandon (Bolden) keeps coming,” Nutt said.

Also from the mother ship, Nutt and the players say confidence is not an issue right now in spite of the 1-3 start.
