Spanning the globe on a Tuesday morning. ...

From College Station, in some aspects it was a typical Monday at Texas A&M, but A&M athletes knew better than that. The Aggies were headed to the SEC and were excited about the future.

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive attended a Texas A&M news conference/celebration in College Station to officially welcome the Aggies. Slive says he anticipates the SEC being a 13-team league in 2012. A&M's time in the SEC will begin on July 1.

The SEC may in fact be a 13-team league next year, but that hasn't slowed down speculation about a 14th team. From Athlon Sports, here's a list of possibilities, their pros and cons.

I had no idea that it had gotten so bad in O town. In Starkville, they welcome every person who cheers for the MAROON and WHITE. Doesn't matter what you drive, what you wear to the game or where you came from. MState won't let go of tradition, we will fight to keep tradition alive. It's never too late to correct a wrong, so come and join us.

Excellent post AreYouReady..... thats the arrogance I was trying to point out with my story of when that joke Tim Walsh (someone who has never held a real job) told me Ole Miss would lose nothing if they lost my support.

From a yearly Alumni member, Ole Miss merchandise buyer and over 10 year season ticket holder...none of which I am anymore.

The Cap and Tee-Shirt Crowd.

I am a member of the “Cap and Tee-Shirt Crowd”. I am also a Life Member of the University of Mississippi Alumni Association. I don’t have season tickets and I don’t tail gate in the grove. Those are luxuries that I simply can’t afford. However, by the time I buy tickets for my family of six, travel to Oxford, do a little tail gating, and feed everyone inside the stadium; I have spent on average $500 for a single game. That may not seem like much to spend for some people, but to me and my family, it is a very large sum.

It is really hard to justify that amount of spending when I am referred to in a disparaging way by the organization that is benefiting from my hard earned dollars. Now, we are looking at expanding the stadium and adding additional seating. Yet, another request for money from a University that has become so arrogant, that they don’t even know when (or maybe they just don’t care) they are insulting the majority of the fans that make up the game day crowd.

So, go ahead and raise the “Big Money”; parade the donors out in front of everybody at half time; hang up plaques and rename buildings; but, take a little time to go back and read the Parable of the Widow’s Mite. Take time of get to know the cap and tee-shirt crowd. Go back and re-learn the principles of Economies of Scale. If you would like, I can refer you to some really good professors at Ole Miss that can teach you all about it.
