The Rebels worked out in shoulder pads and shorts. They put the rest of the gear on Wednesday.

Junior college transfer DT Uriah Grant made a depth chart move today, climbing to the first team. Grant wasn't able to make it in time to go through spring drills. His numbers – six sacks, 17 TFLs at Fullerton CC last year -- suggest quickness and play-making ability in the backfield. The Rebels need him to be a juco transfer who makes an impact in the first year.

“He's really shown up in the middle,” Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said. …

Freshman DB Denzel Nkemdiche was cleared today. He was a late pick-up in the recruiting process after it became clear he would be a qualifier. The NCAA had been looking at his academics even after attending summer school at Ole Miss. He is expected to provide depth in the secondary. …

Senior end Kentrell Lockett, coming back from his ACL tear, left practice early and received treatment inside the IPF. Afterward trainer Tim Mullins said Lockett was experiencing some soreness in the knee, which is to be expected. …

Freshman offensive lineman Aaron Morris has looked good and has worked himself into the second team, running behind Bobby Massie at right tackle. …
