Ole Miss defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix described today's practice, the first since the dismissal of Houston Nutt was announced on Monday as "business as usual."

Nutt will stay remain as head coach through the final three games.

We witnessed no outward anguish in the period of practice that is open to the media. There was talking and smiling among players and coaches.

That was also true with freshman wr/cb Nick Brassell, who was the subject of a possible suspension earlier in the day. Nutt said the home of Brassell and tight end Jamal Mosley was broken into and property stolen while the team was away at Kentucky. As a result, Brassell missed Sunday's workout.

Brassell won't be suspended for Saturday's La. Tech game, but he won't start.

Mosley may not be available at all. He sat out practice today with a torn meniscus. Range of motion is improving, Nutt said, but Mosley's status for Saturday is uncertain.

After practice D.T. Shackelford and Jason Jones were chosen by media relations staff to represent the players with reaction to Monday's events.

“You never want to see one of the greatest coaches in the game leave, especially when you came in with his first class,” junior defensive end Jason Jones said. “It was devastating. He's more than just a coach, more than just a coach.”
