Morning folks. Talking Ole Miss football here. Leave a question or comment below. I'll be checking the thread throughout the morning while getting some other work done, much of it housework so I'm in good standing when I take off early tomorrow for a 3:45 kick in Oxford.
I get amped up for the start of college football, and Thursday night is usually a time that I can watch most or all of a game on TV. That being said, it was disappointing Wisconsin was up 20 in the first quarter on ESPN's wonderful matchup pitting the Badgers against UNLV.
I would have switched over to watch State, but Comcast couldn't figure a way to show MSU and Memphis is this market and others. That game was a romp too. In this day with the uncertainty regarding the landscape of college football it's nice to see consistency from Memphis.
Speaking of opening night, there was another thrilling comeback victory for Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks got a 4-yard run from Calvin Middleton with 6 seconds left to edge Tennessee (Tenn.-Martin) 24-23.
Jax QB Coty Blanchard was 9-for-17 passing for 133 yards and a 43-yard touchdown pass to transfer Washaun Ealey, who played at Georgia last year. Blanchard threw the Gamecocks' final touchdown pass against Ole Miss on fourth-and-15 from the 30, then followed that with the winning two-point conversion pass to Middleton.
Brunetti went into camp with a slight edge in the race but just didn't pull away and win the job. Nobody did.
