It hasn't been a boring week, and there's a lot to talk about in the Friday Chat.
Did you like Pete Boone's appearance the Monday presser? Was it a positive move to get out in front of the football situation at Ole Miss?
And what exactly is the football situation? How important is Saturday's game at Georgia to the future of Houston Nutt as coach at Ole Miss? Many have taken to calling the Ole Miss-Georgia game the "Hot Seat Bowl."
What do you expect to see from Ole Miss tomorrow against Georgia? More fire and emotion? More execution? Will the Rebels play better, and more importantly, what are their chances to beat a team Nutt hasn't beaten in the best of times?
How about the Big 12 news from last night? Do you see Missouri coming on board as the SEC's 14th team, or will the league stay at an odd number for a while and look elsewhere for No. 14?
Leave your thoughts below, and start your own topics as well.
I'll be checking the thread throughout the day.
Didnt Sowell play all last year? He should have learned the offensive calls by now. He is getting blown up. If its mental I think I have your answer, he is whooped by his girl and that baby....and not that I blame him, cause I love my wife and my children so much, people probably think Im whooped too. Im not playing football, he is.
I think so many of our guys have quick start families. (Babies, wives, ect..) Those families need support. They also require more of your time. I think we have to start looking at this in recruiting. My suggestion, quit going for these scholar athletes with families and get some straight up thugs with no families. (JJ/lol).

As far as the OL, I think the problem is more in the head than at the waistline.
As for the team, I dont think we are more than o.k. at rb and fb. Bolden looks good on paper because he accounted for almost 100% of our offense last year. Davis runs standing straight up and goes down at first touch. I dont see this changing.
Our OL is fat! I looked at all the sec lines over the week, and I can honestly say most of them are all muscled up in the arms and legs. Our guys look like they have excess fat dripping off their arms and guts. This equals weak and slow on the field....you cant correct that in a week.
I had a football coach that when we lost, he made us workout on conditioning for hours and hours. He always said we may not be the best team but we will be the most physically fit team. I think these guys have gotten spoiled with all these indoor facilities.
One thing I think hurts the program is not making all players live together and travel to games as a team. It seems now everyone is spread out over the county and city. Familes usually live together, thus forming stronger bonds. I think not having the athletic dorm is a big deal.
Having said all that, I dont think OM gets better until there is accountability. Boone failed at banking, I dont know why anyone thought he would be better at running an athletic program. Jones is a troll and ran the UMMC into the ground. Its less safe than parchman! Nutt is bi-polar, instead of mutliple d, he has mutiple p, as in mutiple personalities. I just want to get rid of this entire group and start over with people that are not afraid to sign a performance based contract. It is ashame OM doesnt demand more from their admin and coaches.....Miss is known as the welfare state and giving these losers big lucritive contracts with no controls is nothing more than welfare.
Ready, I have heard that "cap and t-shirt" phrase, but Pete hasn't used it in a discussion with me, so I'm hesitant to speculate on it, though it sounds pretty plain. I'll tell you this, Pete has a very dry wit. I have a good relationship with him, but sometimes the wit can make him misunderstood in a public setting.
Parrish, I have heard the pharse "cap and tee shirt crowd" credited to Pete Boone. Can you give a little background on that. I know it is very easy to take someones words out of context. I have not really jumped on the "Hate Boone" band wagon, but this bothers me.
Thanks,
THE OLD REBEL GATOR. JB
i dont think this game against georgia will be as important as the season all together. i think if we loose to georgia but still somehow pull out six wins (very doubtful) and make a bowl game, then nutt might salvage his job. now loosing to msu again will seal the deal.
I dont think we win tomorrow, but emotion is not the key to wins. when i think of an emotional team, i dont think of alabama, lsu, florida, texas, etc.. it doesnt win games, but i do understand what boone was saying in that they were as flat a tire against vandy. they do lack fight.
with the sec expansion, i would not like to see missouri. i would rather see a texas a&m on the west side and a florida state or virginia tech on the east.
I figure the Rebels play hard tomorrow not because of what Pete had to say but because they're embarrassed by Vanderbilt. I don't think playing hard necessarily equates to playing smart and getting a win.
Raleigh, you're on the mark on the OL. Sowell has not looked like an All-SEC tackle. A theory was floated by a player that the problems with the tackles have to do with trying to help the guards. Maybe, but that's not the case all the time. Personally, I think if the OL could begin to function Ole Miss would get better quickly. There's talent at running back and receiver, and Mark Richt's description of Zack Stoudt as "capable" is a good read.
Given what I've seen so far there's no reason to expect a quantum leap forward for the OL tomorrow. Georgia will stunt and twist and do the things they've seen on film that Ole Miss has trouble blocking. It's good that Aaron Morris has been inserted and will at least have a chance to make an impact, but he's a freshman learning the ropes. Maybe he can make up for his inexperience with his physical play.
