The Friday Chat is on.

It's Errand Day, and I'll be in and out on a rainy Friday morning, but I'll be checking the blog.

Hugh Freeze downplays the importance of a starting quarterback when he knows both Bo Wallace and Barry Brunetti will play. Still, there was much talk about who the Ole Miss starter would be until Freeze named Wallace Thursday afternoon.

From what I saw, I thought it would be Wallace all along, even if Wallace didn't run away with the job. Now that he's won it, the question is can he keep it, and what will be Brunetti's role. Lots of teams have success with a run-oriented QB coming in to take a shotgun snap. Looks like that's on the horizon. Brunetti's role could be much more than that, however, if Wallace doesn't take advantage of this opportunity and build.

Also, did you watch college football last night, and did you think Vanderbilt got jobbed on the pass intereference no-call? The Commodores still would have had about 35 yards to cover to reach the end zone, and the clock was running, but they were denied that chance.

It wasn't a great debut for South Carolina aside from Marcus Lattimore, and even Lattimore wasn't immune to early mistakes with a fumble. The Gamecocks, though, looked quite average on offense after Connor Shaw hurt his shoulder. He showed a lot of toughness to finish the game, but that's a big concern for South Carolina moving forward.

Firefighter, the social media login is on the way, I'm told.

Chris, I have thought about the scenario, but I don't think it will happen. These guys have been so close all camp that I think whoever is not the starter, Brunetti it appears, will get a chance at some point. Plus, it's just too easy to put in a package for Brunetti and take advantage of his running skill.

M4, good to see you. I'll expect lengthy analysis after each game. I really think Wallace has a chance to improve with some experience. As far as looking forward to this season, I've had some folks tell me they are excited about seeing a team that they believe will compete harder.

Wow. Haven't posted in a while. New call signs, same Ole, same Ole.

Maybe this Bo Wallace guy will do something special. Even with it, we have the deck stacked so far above his frame, we are hurting. I have looked forward to THIS season less than any in my entire tenure as an Ole Miss Rebel. You have to start rebuilding from somewhere. Maybe tomorrow is part of Reconstruction. It can't get worse than last year's efforts. Hotty Toddy. I AM AN OLE MISS REBEL.

PA, if Wallace starts the game is productive, in what scenario do you think we will see Brunetti? I just wander if it would be a scenario where Wallace is the starter and does well, so there is no chance for Brunetti.

You know most of the talk on here was civilized until recently. Yeah there has always been one or too rogue posters but lately this has been just silly.

PA/Todd, you have my vote to do like some of the other sites and require you to be logged in through facebook or some other means to post that way posters can't hide behind a screen name.

I bet many people including myself would watch what we typed if our real name was posted above our comments rather than a made up screen name.

PA, not trying to tell you how to run your business, but with all the crap that gets posted in these comments I hardly read below the articles anymore. You've got my vote to start having these chats via twitter to weed out the junk. They used to be a good time to talk Ole Miss sports but now it's just jibberish back and forth between idiots

bireb, I doubt if you have ever been to one Egg Bowl, ever! You probably never even attended Ole Miss. I wonder if you have ever driven through Oxford! I have never attacked you or your family, heck, I have never even ever had words with Ole Miss fans, at all! I have had run ins with Bamers and Burners, but never had cross words with Ole Miss fans, but I have seen alot of classlessness on Ole Miss' part. Funny I have never seen such from the State fans that I sit with. I have even helped an old Ole Miss fans get up onto the shuttle, poor old gal!

Thank you one and all for proving my point and tomorrow there will be more classless acts across every campus hosting games. The rivarlies have gotten out of control. That's why the internet posting process is so popular, it is a safe way to tongue lash without physical damage to anyone. It's harmless and indeed productive! By the way

Ole Miss 10 Central Ark 13. Have a great day America!

Nephew,

You need to wake up I had been to 31 straight Egg Bowls until last year cause I refused to go back to Starkville after the years of abuse and ugly treatment recieved there but 2 years ago my wife and children said enough and won`t go back so wake up.I won`t even get into all the events over the years but the beer bottle hurling incident as we walked to the car minding our own business 2 years ago sealed the deal . Heck we won like 38 to 0 Eli`s senior year and almost had to fight walking out to the car and we never said a word to anybody just walking down the street. But I will bet that that guy will think twice before he heckles anybody again nuff said. Good day !!

I never said anything about class, nephew. But now that you mention it, you don't have any. You're just another "neck" that actually thinks internet banter matters.

BTW, I couldn't care less about your 'merica rant.

Those college OL has got much bigger and stronger averaging about 6'-5" 320lb per player compared a few years back when the average OL at about 6'3" 245lb. I think lots of high steroid meals being placed on the food serving tables.

"that is a lack of class and general happens at every EGG BOWL in Oxford."

I think it happens everywhere Mr. Nephew. I've witnessed frat boys from MSU cursing and yelling at the Ole Miss coach, prior to the game, while playing with children on the field. I also remember last year when some ignorant MSU fan threw urine on the band members getting on the bus. Also, doesn't someone get hit by a cowbell every year no matter the location or outcome of the game? See, don't limit blame of incidents to just Oxford.

Thank you for the service your father did for this country. Sympathy for losing him at a young age.

I don't always agree with what is posted in either State or Ole miss articles, but I don't think an apology is warranted either. It's just somebody's opinions, what's the big deal. An apology is not needed in any way.

I shant post such a diatribe as Willferrellsnephew, but I will say that dawginheat doesn't speak for me. I too will post wherever, whenever and about any subject that I choose to, without any sort of apology what so ever.

deuce, let me tell you something about my dad! He died in Vietnam in 1973, in the Mey Kong Delta. He was fighting for nothing, because that was a crappy war and we gained nothing from the thousands of lives that were wasted there. My daddy taught me as much as he could before his death. I only knew my dad for 7 years and to me, he was the greatest daddy any kid could ever have. For you to infer that my dad failed as a father, well words cannot express my anger at you, but it serves one thing and that's that it shows how little class you have! #%@$#%#$%^$#

dawginheat, I just noticed a comment from you in the South Carolina vs Vandy article, where you told Monroereb that he "posted between the 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. , because he didn't have internet in his trailer". That doesn't show much class and it sounds like you are a hypocrite to me! At least I lay my testicles out on the table and make no bones about my intentions.

Class? Let me tell you something about class. I have gone to 21 staight EGG BOWLS, 11 at MSU and 10, soon to be 11 at Oxford. I won't lump all Ole Miss fans into a group from the actions of a few. The worst was in '08 at Oxford and we were down 38 to 0, but I never leave a game early, no matter the score. Well I am sitting in the endzone beneath the Rebelbear TV, along with some African-American State fans, when this blackbear fans yell out that Croom can only coach on AFRO TURF and proceeds to do a dance called the sprinkler and rubbing the loss in our faces, that is a lack of class and general happens at every EGG BOWL in Oxford. What I do is make humorous comments to get a laugh or a rise from either side. No harm is meant and I only get personal when someone makes it personal. That being said, I hope Ole MIss gets beat tomorrow!

@willferrell.... you are correct, but what your leaving out is what is called "class". I guess your daddy forgot to instill any in you.

Hey CHICHI,

At last I have found something to unite us two together. I too have seen the blackbears take it up the tailpipe, against the big brothers of the SEC. I wish there was something we could do about it, but it's like our government, big money rules the roost and the little guys catch the feces that falls upon us from up on high. Sometimes it is so obvious that you think something more would be said, but big money shuts those people up!
