A few links here on Southern Illinois, this weekend's Ole Miss opponent, which had a big win over the weekend.
If it's tempting to chalk up the Rebels' first win of 2011 in advance, one need only look back to the 2010 season opener against Jacksonville State. ...
FCS member Southern Illinois dominated another FCS member in a directional football matchup on opening day. The Saluki's averaged 5.2 yards per carry in a 38-10 win over Southeast Missouri.
SIU quarterback Paul McIntosh had a big night in the opener. He is being called one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the nation at the FCS level.
I am enjoying the rain and inside weather this morning, but will get on the road for the IPF shortly. The presser begins with Ole Miss players at 11:30. Houston Nutt will follow.
Given the morning start time for the presser, there may be no more definitive news on tailbacks Brandon Bolden and Enrique Davis, who are scheduled for MRIs this morning. Nutt seems pretty sure that Bolden has some sort of ankle fracture, which would likely make him unavailble for multiple games.
Nutt may talk more today about position swaps, players moving over to the running backs position.
I'll have updates on Twitter and notes on the blog.
As far as the future of the coaching staff, I think the key factors will be whether the administration believes true progress is being made, regardless of a bowl game, and economics, whether fans are still supporting the program.
Also, what do you think is in the future for the ole miss coaching staff if ole miss doesnt make a bowl game this year?
